Any new movies?

Been ages since I saw a good Bollywood or Hollywood movie. To be precise, it was last year – Ghajini and Slumdog Millionaire, in the Christmas holidays.

Heard not so great reviews of ‘Luck by Chance’ and ‘Dilli 6’; so I have decided to skip watching both. Maybe if someone raves about those movies, I will pick the DVD. It is a pity when you expect so much from the few sensibly artistic people in Bollywood, in this case Farhan Akhtar and Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, and the end product turns out to be below expectations. I mean these people have established a distinct level for themselves; they need to live up to it.

Moving over to Hollywood, I was eager to see ‘The Pink Panther 2’ and ‘Taken’. Again, the reviews played havoc, and I decided to avoid both movies. There seems to be nothing great in the near future.

This week we saw ‘Sin City’ from our Netflix subscription. Urgh, weird (silver blood!!) and boring (too many plots!!) movie. It put me off to sleep. Planning to watch Hellboy II this weekend. B & I liked the first one. Lets see if the sequel lives upto the mark.

I hope to drive away this bleak “No good Hollywood/Bollywood movie” phase. So people, if you come across a good movie or two, please recommend! I will be eternally grateful! 🙂

Have a lovely weekend.

Well, for starters I owe my readers the result of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Much to my dissapointment, Kartiki Gaikwad was declared the winner of the Mega Final. The show itself was very well rehearsed. I think Rohit Raut performed very well, perhaps the best that he has ever performed throughout the series. Everyone kept reiterating (pre and post the results declaration) that all the 5 contestants were winners. Thank God Zee Marathi did not declare a 2nd and a 3rd prize; that would have been miserable.

I am so waiting for the winter season to come to an end. And I am sure so are many of you. This winter has been terrible; it started early, there have been ice storms and snow storms. I hope next year is not as bad.

I am really looking forward to the weekend, this time. It has been one of those weeks, when you can catch a nap at around 6 – 6.30 PM, and yet sleep at 10PM. Saw a movie (He’s not that into you) with my friends from work, in the middle of the week. That was fun! It had been ages since I went out with just my girl friends. We had a lovely dinner, lots of laughter, followed by the movie. I did not realize how much I was missing being in an all-girl gang for some timepass. I do miss having my best friend’s K and A around. But I still have a dream, perhaps 10 years down the line or more, the three of us – living in one city, meeting every evening, going for a walk, having fun! No harm in dreaming, eh? As Dumbledore says, “In dreams we enter a world that’s entirely our own. Lets swim through the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud.”

I am re-reading “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand. The first time I read it, was when I had just started working in the US. I loved the grit of the central character ‘Howard Roark’. He knows what good work is, he will not compromise on it, and doesn’t care what others think about it. That was impressive! As a newbie, who was just starting a job, it was very motivational. I think I gained a lot from that character. Let me see what I learn with the second perusal of this book.

Alright then, have a nice weekend! I hope to come up with a more focused post next time. 🙂
